Why I'm going to the #actionaidblogparty

Sometimes life collides in a happy coincidence that is more than fate.

As I sat in the Blogging for the Greater Good workshop at BritMums Live workshop I acknowledged the opportunity that blogging offers to work with charities to create a momentum for the amazing work and people who drive progress. I had no idea where to start.

And then the opportunity presented itself.

I am a working mum, so can find it difficult to compromise my free time which I love to spend with my children. I also live in Wales (hold on to your seats) so opportunities to get to know charities can be limited by critical mass.

So, every now and again, it does happen, that I know my diary well enough as to when I am working in London, and then an event collides with when I happen to be overnight in London.

And then I think that life has probably collided for the greater good.

So, on Wednesday 15th August I will be at the Action Aid Blog Party.

I dearly hope no-one can argue with what Action Aid are here to do:

We want a world without poverty, so we work with local people to fight hunger, seek justice for women and education for children, and cope with emergencies.

So, on the 15th August Penny from Alexander Residence and Gemma from Hello It's Gemma will be running a big blogger brainstorm to look at ways to make a difference.

So, why am I going? Because I hope I can be a part of the solution, I hope I can find a way to make this blog make a difference. It wasn't part of the original plan, but neither was thinking this blog might have an audience.

From someone who really didn't see her future as being a mother, to becoming a mother and not being able to imagine life without these wonderful little people. It is difficult to imagine how it would feel it I couldn't provide for them, how it would be to know that I couldn't do the best possible for them, to give them the basic, fundamental chance in life- that food and clean water should not be beyond peoples reach.

So, who knows what difference I can make?

Please watch this space.
I will be back here next week
With how everyone can make the difference.
Starting with me.

  1. Looking forward to meeting you on the 15th!

    1. And me, you! Will be good to recognise someone's face!
