A New Year Tradition- ridding the cobwebs at Barry Island

A New Year's Day walk along Barry Island beach I suspect will become a tradition for the Johnson's.
Last year the little people spent the new year with grandma and gramps so we did the walk with friends in a bid to rid any remaining hangover, this year we decided to relive the experience with kids on tow.

After Squeaks came down with 'the virus' on Christmas Eve, then Cheeky and Mr J at the weekend, I have to admit as we were getting a bit stir crazy by New Year's Day. Now, even knowing the consequences we'd do the same thing all over again.

Looking at how much the three enjoyed the beach, it was definitely worth it.

We had gone there with the thought of just sticking to the promenade, to try out Squeaks bike and the boys' Scuttlebugs...
... but the beach was too much of a temptation to ringleader Squeaks, so the bikes were quickly packed up and with the absence of buckets and spades, sticks were quickly acquired.

It was the most beautiful start to the New Year. The first day in many where the rain stayed away, and whilst brisk the sun shone.
Everyone enjoyed their adventures and showed it through sleep.

Of course, Tiny is now on antibiotics, Squeaks is now on her second cycle of the virus, and Cheeky and Mr J are not fully recovered... but hey, I got a family outing for the New Year so I win!!

And, starting as I mean to go on, of course this is being linked up to:

Today is the thanksgiving service for Multiple Mummy, it seems fitting to show how these posts were originally motivated:

  1. Another post from Barry Island on New Year's Day, did you realize The Boy and Me was there too? It really does look like the best day of the year so far! So lovely to see the sun. Great idea to include Family Frolics, I miss link swapping our adventures with Kerry each week.

  5. Debbie, your post is like a tourist advert for Barry Island! I love the beach in winter, and only wish we lived near enough to enjoy it more often. Thanks so much for adding this to the outdoor play party & looking forward to enjoying your blog. See you back here again in 2 weeks, I hope, Kierna
